Barossa Valley, South Australia
Vignerons – Tony Brooks & Wendy Allan, Winemaker - Peter Leske
Pindarie, meaning “hilly place,” is nestled on the Barossa’s Western Ridge, offering spectacular views across the Barossa Ranges, capturing the essence of the Barossa’s natural beauty.
A deep connection to the land led Tony Brooks to join his grandfather on the farm in 1990, where he began restoring its historic stone buildings and, in 1998, planted the first vines. Over the years, Tony’s vision, combined with his wife Wendy’s passion for viticulture, has played a crucial role in Pindarie’s evolution into a thriving 760-acre working farm. Today, it blends sheep farming, vineyards, winemaking, and tourism.
Tony and Wendy were among the early pioneers of Tempranillo in the Barossa Valley, recognizing its suitability for the stony soils of the Western Ridge. What began with a 10-hectare Shiraz planting in 1998 has now expanded to 36 hectares, incorporating Cabernet Sauvignon and alternative varietals such as Sangiovese, Fiano, and Montepulciano.
